Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is the use of techniques and principles to bring about positive and meaningful change in behavior. These techniques and principles have been researched for decades and are proven to be effective. One such method is positive reinforcement. When a behavior is followed by a reward then the behavior is likely to increase.
ABA is recognized as a safe and effective treatment for autism. It has been endorsed by many state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Surgeon General. The use of ABA therapy has increased dramatically in the past decade to help those affected by autism live happy and productive lives. ABA techniques can help improve basic skills such as looking, listening and imitating as well as more complex skills as reading and conversing.
